NHRC moved over quality of food

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has directed the Secretary of the Odisha Health Department to take requisite action against allegedly serving highly contaminated food to poor patients of MKCG Medical College and Hospital.

The apex rights panel was moved by a voluntary organisation ‘Law’ which alleged that after autopsied bodies were kept near the kitchen, which also had piles of bio-medical waste on its premises.

The unhygienic conditions in Odisha’s one of the biggest government hospitals has never been a cause of concern for the state government, the plea read.
