Uttar Pradesh's ex-chief secretary gets 3-year jail

Former Uttar Pradesh chief secretary Neera Yadav, who served as Noida chairperson, and another Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer were given three years' jail by a CBI special court here for irregular land allotments.

Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Special Judge S. Lal pronounced the judgment in the Noida plot allotment scandal in which the Supreme Court had ordered an inquiry by the probe agency against Yadav and Noida's then deputy CEO Rajiv Kumar.

The court also slapped a penalty of Rs.100,000 each on the convicts.

The CBI registered a case against Yadav and others Feb 26, 1998.

The probe agency filed the chargesheet Oct 16, 2002.
