‘Integrate world as a family, not market’

Averring that most of the countries across the world were undergoing a crisis, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on Wednesday underscored the need for India to emerge as a responsible superpower to comfort nations in distress.

Delivering a talk on “Bharatiyta aur Aadhunik Chunatiyaan” (“Indianness and Modern Challenges”) as part of Deendayal Memorial Lecture series, the RSS chief said: “Deendayal Upadhyay’s philosophy of Integral Humanism remained as relevant as ever”.

Bhagwat stressed that the “dominant thought, worldwide, was market paradigm which was detrimental to social institutions and which also led to a sense of alienation among the people”.

“It’s in this context that India will have to take the lead and help the world integrate as a family and not as a market,” he said.

He reminded the audience of Swami Vivekanand’s invocation to India to grow strong. “We must not forget that the strength should also be accompanied by compassion,” he said.

While most of the BJP top brass gave the event a miss, JD (U) president Sharad Yadav attended. BJP general secretaries Ananth Kumar and Vijay Goel, former Rajasthan chief minister Vasundhara Raje, BJP MPs Balbir Punj and Rajendra  Aggarwal and BJP national secretary P Muralidhar Rao were present.

Bhagwat said India would show the world what it meant to be an eclectic amalgam of the East and West.
