CBI: VK Singh's audio evidence inadequate

The CBI has revealed that the  device handed over by erstwhile Army chief V K Singh, which purportedly contained a recorded conversation of a bribe offer made to him, has been malfunctioning and hence nothing could  be retrieved from it.

Quoting forensic experts, CBI sources said the device was sent to the Central Forensic and Scientific Laboratory (CFSL) for detailed examination after it was found that barely anything was audible from the recorded transcript.

According to the sources, the forensic experts tried to retrieve data from the device, which was provided by Singh to substantiate his charge of the bribe offer made by a retired Army officer to okay a tranche of 600 all-terrain trucks.
