DIAMOND HARBOUR: Seven fishermen are missing after a fishing boat capsized at Kedo island in Sundarbans near Bay of Bengal, 250 km from here, early this morning.

The seven along with three others had gone fishing in the deep seas, West Bengal United Fishermen Association President Joykrishna Haldar said.

Haldar said the boat capsized in a sudden storm when the ten fishermen on board were asleep, early this morning.

Three of them were rescued by a nearby fishing trawler, he said quoting communications received from it.

The association has sent fishing trawlers at the spot to rescue the missing fishermen, Halder said, adding, Coast Guard has also been informed.

The fishermen hailed from Patharpratima in the Sundarbans area of South 24 Parganas district.
