18 Huts Gutted in Fire

PERAMBALUR: Eighteen huts were gutted when an LPG cylinder exploded in one of them at Kurumbalur near here today.   

Police said none was injured in the fire caused by the explosion, and fire and rescue service personnel put out the fire in an hour-long operation.    

The cylinder exploded in the house of one Thambian, causing a fire which spread to other huts.    

People in the area blocked the traffic for more than one hour complaining that revenue officials did not come to the spot and arrange for their rehabilitation.    

Dstrict Collector P.Madhusudhan Reddy and police officials rushed to the spot and persuaded them to disperse assuring help.
