NEW DELHI: Citing “functional requirement”, the Centre has allowed at least 26 senior officials -- three IPS, two IFS and 21 IAS officers -- to continue on central deputation beyond their tenure.
“The guidelines lay down a maximum of seven years outside the cadre in general and seven- and-a-half years, if the entire period is spent in Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration and National Police Academy in Hyderabad,” Jitendra Singh, MoS (Personnel), said in Parliament on Wednesday.
Data disclosed by the DoPT reveals that B V R Subrahmanyam, Joint Secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office, has been on deputation since 2003.
