NEW DELHI: In a bid to get the people of the country involved in governance matters, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a website mygov.nic.in to help the citizens give their views, ideas and opinions on issues and programmes of the Government.
The event also marked the first 60 days of the Modi Government, which rode to power on hope of the voters on good governance and nation’s development.
The website, mygov.nic.in, is a technology-driven medium that will provide citizens an opportunity to contribute towards good governance, a statement on the website launch from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said.
On the occasion, Modi said in the past two months, the experience of his Government was that there were many people, who wanted to contribute towards nation-building and devote their time and energy.
In the past, there used to be a big gap between the people and the processes of governance, Modi was quoted as saying in the PMO release.
“The success of democracy is impossible without participation of the people,” the Prime Minister said. “The only thing they required was an opportunity to shine and showcase their contribution,” he added.
Besides Modi, Communications and IT Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad, Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth, Department of Electronics and Information Technology Secretary RS Sharma were also present. National Informatics Centre (NIC) will implement and manage the platform.
Modi expressed the confidence that people would welcome the online initiative and invited suggestions to strengthen and improve the platform.
He hoped that everyone would join hands through the MyGov platform to take the country forward and to meet the aspirations of the poorest of the poor.
The platform presents an opportunity to the citizens to both ‘Discuss’ and ‘Do’ and there are multiple theme-based discussions on MyGov where a wide range of people would share their thoughts and ideas.
