DU Student Accuses Friend of Raping Her in Ghaziabad Flat

A 25-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly raped by her friend in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad.

NEW DELHI: A 25-year-old Delhi University student was allegedly raped by her friend in Vijay Nagar area of Ghaziabad.

Police said the incident took place on Saturday evening when the accused, identified as Anil Sharma, took the girl to a flat in Vijay Nagar area and allegedly raped her.

Sharma and the girl, a resident of Mehrauli area of south Delhi, were good friends for a year.

Based on a complaint filed by the girl, a Zero FIR has been registered at Mehrauli police station as the incident has been reported in Ghaziabad.

Police said that this case will be transfered to Ghaziabad police which would investigate the matter.

"After the incident, the accused threatened her of dire consequence if she narrated her ordeal to anyone. And, Sharma then sent a text message to the girl's brother from his phone claiming that he had killed her. Her parents started searching  for her... However, the girl returned home herself," a senior police officer added.

The girl's brother had earlier asked the accused to stay away from her sister, the officer said, adding that a manhunt has been launched to nab Sharma.
