Delhi Power Bills to be Reduced

NEW DELHI: Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Wednesday said the electricity bills of 84 per cent of households in the capital would be reduced because of the measures announced in the Central and state Budget. Jaitley said a political solution would have to be found to  end the stalemate here, with either fresh elections being held or a party forming the government.

The Budget was termed as ‘election budget’ by the Opposition parties in the Lok Sabha, as Jaitley had announced Rs 260 crore power subsidy.

“Because of the provisions in the Central budget and this budget, 84 per cent of the households will get reduced power bills,” he said, adding `700 crore has been provided for power and water reforms. In his speech, the he repeated the measures announced earlier.
