302 in Fray from Delhi LS Constituencies

As many as 302 ‘prospective’ candidates, including several independents, are in the fray for the seven Parliamentary seats in Delhi, which are scheduled to go to the polls on April 10.The filing of nominations, which started on March 15, the date of notification of the polls, ended on Saturday.”We received nominations from 302 people,” said Chief Electoral officer Vijay Dev.

While the North-East Delhi constituency recorded the highest numbers of candidates filing their papers,the number was the lowest in North-West Delhi. Sixty people filed papers from the North-East Delhi constituency, 50 from New Delhi constituency, 46,from East Delhi, 42 from Chandini Chowk, 37 each from East-South and West Delhi and 30 from the North-West Delhi.

“There are prospective candidates. The final figure will be known after the documents are scrutinised and the withdrawal of the candidates,” said Dev.
