The TMC government in West Bengal is behaving just like its Left front predecessor that the people had voted out, Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi alleged on Tuesday. Addressing a party workers’ meeting at Nagrakata in Jalpaiguri district, he said: “Earlier there was a Communist government in this state. Communism failed in Russia and has considerably changed in China. You ousted the Communists but the present TMC government is behaving just like its predecessor.”
“We send crores of rupees from the Centre for Bengal’s development but the funds get stuck in Kolkata instead of reaching the masses. “The money meant for Bengal’s development is being siphoned off to leaders and contractors. Vote for Congress and we will ensure it reaches you directly,” he told a crowd of workers mostly from surrounding tea gardens.
