WB: Examinee Shot Dead for Protesting Eve-teasing

A 17-year-old examinee of a higher secondary school at Phulia in Nadia district was shot dead on Wednesday by unidentified bike-borne assailants for protesting their attempts to tease two girl students of his school.

"Ajay Ghosh, a class-XI student of Phulia Vidyapith, was drinking water from a tap in the school premises when unknown gunmen appeared on a bike and shot him from close range," Superintendent of Police Sabyasachi Raman Mishra said.

A profusely bleeding Ghosh, a resident of Bhoot Colony at Phulia, was taken to Ranaghat Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Two persons were arrested in this connection, Mishra said.

Ajay used to return home with two girls who were his schoolmates. Some local youths used to tease the girls on the way.

"Ajay would protest them. About 5 days back, they beat him for his protest and warned him," Raghunath Chatterjee, Pradhan of Fulia Township Gram Panchayat said.
