Music director Bappi Lahiri, who is the BJP nominee from Srirampore seat, kicked off his campaign on Thursday, saying he was not scared of any of his political opponents, but only God.  “I am scared of only God and none else. God only can destroy me or defeat me. I am not scared of any human beings, including my political rivals, how much ever powerful they may be,” he said. Asked about Mamata Banerjee, he said: “She is excellent. I respect all political leaders.” This was his first visit to Srirampore after filing papers. “I will first go to the Kali temple at Dakshineswar and then visit my constituency,” he said.  Lahiri said, “I am a disco dancer! I am not bothered about politics of terror. I was zero when I went to Mumbai 42 years ago. I struggled to survive and still doing well in the film industry. The BJP stands for peace and happiness. I will create a storm among the people with my songs like Tansen had done using his songs,” he said.
