TMC Strikes Alliance with AIADMK

The ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in West Bengal has entered into an election alliance for the Lok Sabha polls with the AIADMK.

The Trinamool, which had decided to field Salim Mohammad from Vellore Lok Sabha seat in Tamil Nadu, has withdrawn his candidature. In response, the AIADMK decided to support Trinamool Congress nominee for the Andaman and Nicobar seat, Anita Mondal.

Trinamool Congress national secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Mukul Roy said that Tamil Nadu CM and AIADMK supremo J Jayalalithaa had called West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee after the latter had said she would support Jayalalithaa as future Prime Minister.

She then told Mamata that her party would support the TMC nominee for Andaman and Nicobar and the party then decided to withdraw its sole nominee from TN.
