NEW DELHI: Condemning the militant attack in Assam as mindless, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and vice president Rahul Gandhi today demanded that such acts of terror should be dealt with in the severest possible manner.

The Congress president said that such acts that target innocent people should be dealt with in the severest possible manner.

She described the attack as mindless and dastardly and hoped that immediate relief measures were being taken.

"News of the terror attack in Kokrajhar, Assam extremely worrying. My thoughts & prayers are with the families of the victims," Rahul tweeted.

A group of heavily-armed militants dressed in army fatigues and suspected of belonging to a Bodo separatist outfit opened indiscriminate fire and lobbed grenades at a crowded Balajan Tiniali market this afternoon killing 14 people.
