PATNA:The ruling grand alliance of JD(U), RJD and Congress in Bihar is going strong and the Opposition BJP would not win even one of the state’s total 40 Lok Sabha seats in the 2019 polls, said Bihar deputy CM Tejaswi Yadav Wednesday.

Yadav’s comments came at a time of heightened criticism of the alliance government by BJP leaders, who have been claiming repeatedly that the two main parties in the alliance – JD(U) and RJD – have been in conflict lately.

“The tour of Bihar that chief minister Nitish Kumar started today will remain successful irrespective of what the critics of our government are saying,” said Yadav to reporters. “Our alliance is working well and there is perfect unity among the three parties. BJP will learn the strength of this alliance in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. BJP will not be able to win even a single seat in Bihar,” said Yadav.

The young deputy chief minister, who turned 28 on Wednesday and was greeted by Kumar on the podium during the ‘Nischay Yatra’ (Tour of Resolve) rally at Bettiah, was present beside Kumar at the rally apparently to send a message to the Opposition parties that Kumar’s statewide tour is not a programme being undertaken by JD(U) only.

BJP and other Opposition parties had been portraying Kumar’s tour as JD(U)’s way to assert its weight in the ruling alliance and Kumar’s image as Bihar’s “destiny maker” to be greater than that of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and his two sons, both ministers in the alliance government.

Tejaswi Yadav, however, left the rally in Bettiah minutes after it began, and Kumar told the audience that the deputy chief minister had some important task to attend in Patna.
