JAMSHEDPUR: A businessman, who owns a Nursing Home, was killed and his vehicle torched while a nurse was set free by naxals near Raisilli Pahar under Kuchai police station of Seraikela-Kharswan district, a senior police officer today said.

Yogesh Mishra (40), who owned a Nursing Home in Kharswan of the district, along with a nurse left the nursing home in a car last night to purchase a cock in remote area and was axed to death by the CPI (Maoists) in Burubandi village, Superintendent of Police Indrajeet Mahatha said. Mishra was a familiar face to the naxals and also had a chat with them before leaving the Nursing Home last night, he said stating that the victim’s family members also confessed before the police that he had been chatting with the ultras over phone.

The naxals, however, set the nurse, who lives in Pandadih village in the same police station limit free, he said. Police were investigating the incident from all angles including the possibility of Naxal asking Mishra to convert their black money into white in the wake of banning of Rs.500 and Rs.1000 currency notes even though Mishra was killed allegedly for being a police informer, Mahatha said. Money matter seemed to be an issue behind the killing, the SP hinted.

Earlier, the district police had interrogated Mishra after two Naxals - Arjun Munda and Sombari Mundain - who were involved in last year's firing at the then Senior Superintendent of Police, Ranchi, Prabhat Kumar leaving him injured, were arrested from his nursing home. The naxal duo had managed to sneak into the district from Ranchi and were undergoing treatment in the nursing home, when they were arrested.
