PORT BLAIR: A senior delegation of top BJP leaders from Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday returned from a short visit to New Delhi, during which they met the Prime Minister, the Home Minister and the President of Bharatiya Janta Party.

Although the senior leaders claim that the meeting was organised to discuss developmental issues of the islands but there are strong rumours that the delegation visited New Delhi to lodge a complaint against the present Lt Governor of A & N Islands, Prof Jagadish Mukhi, who is not on good terms with Andaman’s top BJP leaders.

Among others, the delegation also consisted of the sitting chairpersons of South Andaman as well as North and Middle Andaman Zilla Parishad, Chairperson of Port Blair Municipal Council, led by Vishal Jolly, the President of A & N State BJP unit.

Although the BJP leaders are stressing that developmental issues were mainly discussed in all meetings, insiders told TNIE that there was a discussion about the lack of understanding between the present Lt Governor and the local BJP unit of A & N Islands, which is hitting the development process hard.

From all leaders the delegation has reportedly got an assurance that the matter will be discussed with the present Lt. Governor, sources said.Home Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to visit Andaman on the first week of April and it is expected that during the visit, he may hold a meeting between BJP leaders in Andaman and the Lt. Governor to end this crisis.
