Two Maoists surrender in West Bengal's Purulia

PURULIA: Two members of a Maoist group in Purulia’s Dalma area have surrendered with two rifles before the police.
 
Hazari Hembram alias Kherwal alias Bijoy, who had joined the Maoist group in 2006, was an active squad member Dalma area and Bengal-Orissa-Jharkhand border area.
 
Whereas, Rani Munda, who was an active squad member of east Singbhum, had joined Dalma squad in 2015.
 
“They both have surrendered before us under government’s surrender policy. We hope across the border of Jharkhand other active squad members will also surrender before us,” Superintendent of Police (SP) Joy Biswas said.
 
According to police officials, “Over 220 Maoists have been brought back to the mainstream under the present state government, so far.”
