Security forces have arrested two NSCN(R) ultras from Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh during a crackdown on subversive elements in view of the approaching Independence Day.

ITANAGAR: Security forces have arrested two NSCN(R) ultras from Changlang district in Arunachal Pradesh during a crackdown on subversive elements in view of the approaching Independence Day.     

The ultras were identified as Bokam Wangrey, a self-styled 'sergeant major' of the outfit and Raju Kumar Choudhury.        

An AK-47 assault rifle, ammunition, contraband, multiple sim cards and important documents were seized from them, defence spokesman Colonel Chiranjit Knower said.     

Based on specific intelligence inputs, the Changlang battalion of Assam Rifles undertook an operation at Yongchik village yesterday night and apprehended the rebels, he said.
