KOLKATA: An air hostess in her early twenties and working with a private airliner fell to her death from the third floor of a building in Kolkata on Wednesday.

The incident happened when Khongsit Clara, a native of Shillong in Meghalaya, was attending the birthday party of one of her friends in Kestopur in the northern fringes of the city on Tuesday night. Though the incident happened on Tuesday night, her body in a pool of blood on the road was discovered by passersby early on Wednesday morning, who then informed the police. The victim’s boyfriend and her female friend, whose birthday party she was attending, have been detained.

“Two persons, a man and a woman, have been detained for questioning. The victim Khongsit Clara’s body was found with serious head and body injuries. The body has been sent for post-mortem. Only after investigation we can ascertain whether it was an accident, murder or suicide,” an official of Bidhannagar police station said.

However, police suspect that the victim was in an inebriated condition while she fell from the window of her friend’s apartment. The victim had studied at St. John’s High School and Lady Keane College in Shillong.
