Maoists kill one, torch vehicle in Jharkhand

Maoists on Friday killed one person and torched a vehicle in another incident in Jharkhand, police said.

RANCHI: Maoists on Friday killed one person and torched a vehicle in another incident in Jharkhand, police said.

According to the police, Maoists killed Birbal Murmu by slitting his throat at Madhuban of Giridih district. They left a pamphlet in which they called him a police informer. 

Murmu's father was also killed by Maoists a year ago.

In another incident, Maoists torched a vehicle involved in the construction of a bridge in Chatra district.

Maoists are active in 18 of the 24 districts of the state.
