NEW DELHI: Film star Arjun Rampal on Tuesday hogged limelight after he walked into the BJP headquarter in the national capital to meet the party national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargia, with indications that he might campaign for the saffron outfit in the poll-bound states.

The BJP is also reportedly in touch with another film star Jackie Shroff to rope him in the campaigning for the party.

“Rampal wanted to meet me as he was in the town, and, hence, I called him to the party office. He has been a long time friend,” said Vijayvargia, while speaking to EXPRESS. However, sources in the  BJP said that Rampal is being roped in to campaign for the party in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh.

“Rampal’s grandparents have served in the Armed Forces. He has been an admirer of the leadership of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He has expressed appreciation for the Modi government after the Centre cleared acquisitions of arms and ammunitions in a big way. He may campaign for the party,” sources said.

Shroff is also being approached by the BJP leaders to campaign for the saffron outfit in the poll-bound states. Incidentally, BJP has a strong star line, as Hema Malini and Vinod Khanna are Lok Sabha MPs. The BJP is also readying to field Hema Malini as the star campaigner in UP and Punjab polls.
