SC to hear Common Cause's plea seeking SIT probe into Sahara-Birla papers

NGO Common Cause had moved the court seeking a SIT probe into the evidence gathered against the Sahara Group and the Aditya Birla Group.

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court will on Friday hear the plea filed by NGO Common Cause, seeking a SIT probe into the documents allegedly recovered by the Income Tax department in connection with raids on the Sahara and Aditya Birla groups in 2013-14.

The apex court, on December 15 last year, asked the NGO,  represented by activist lawyer Prashant Bhushan to come up with relevant material and dismissed the plea.
    
NGO Common Cause had moved the court seeking a SIT probe into the evidence gathered against the Sahara Group and the Aditya Birla Group regarding bribing of politicians including Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he was Gujarat Chief Minister.
