LUCKNOW: With BJP all set to release the list of its candidates, BSP chief Mayawati sharpened attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP-led Central government reiterating her resolve to stop it from coming to power in politically crucial Uttar Pradesh after the ensuing elections as, she said, BSP was the only party capable of it.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday which happened to be her 61st birthday, the BSP chief vowed to hand the BJP a crushing defeat in UP in order to deter it from taking ‘as immature decisions as demonetisation’ any more.

“If BSP gets absolute majority in politically important state UP, on one hand it will try to prevail over Centre in stopping it from enforcing whimsical policies like  note ban, on the other it will rid the state of the ‘gundaraaj’ established by Akhilesh  government,” said the BSP supremo.

Cautioning the UP voters against falling prey to temptations in the manifestos of rival parties, Maya said that BSP was the only party capable of drubbing the BJP in the state and stop it from retiring to centre in 2019.

Launching a broadside on present Akhilesh government in the state, the BSP chief exhorted the UP voters to ensure its ouster since it was a party of one family, region and caste.

People have to decide if they want a government which is full of tainted faces like Akhilesh and under which Muzaffarnagar riots, Dadri, Mathura and Bulandshahr incidents took place or a clean and good governance of BSP which has had  the record of giving tough time to the anti-social elements and dealing with them with an iron fist,” claimed
the BSP supremo.

Ruling out the prospects of possible SP-Congress alliance, Maya said SP was already a divided house and its alliance with Congress would not change the picture much for either of the two parties.

Neither SP-Congress alliance nor a united SP will be able to check BJP and voting for them will directly benefit BJP,” said Maya.

Keeping her birthday a low-key affair in the wake of model code of conduct  enforced in the state, the BSP chief released the 12th edition of her book "A travelogue of my struggle-ridden life and BSP movement." Considered to be the ‘blue book' in party circles, the book would be distributed only after completion of
the state polls.

Referring to the heat on her party and her brother for the deposition of huge amounts of money in their accounts post-note ban, Mayawati said: “It was a conspiracy by the BJP people to tarnish the image of my party and my family.

The money deposited in the BSP account has been as per the set rules whereas the Central government highlighted it as black money,” she averred seeking the BJP to make the details of its bank account public 10 months preceding the note ban. “BJP has crossed all limits of decency in maligning its political rivals as they fear the strength of BSP in UP and know that the party is coming to power with absolute majority,” she quipped. She claimed that such connivance and such desperate act by her rival had always made her party emerge stronger.

The BSP chief continued with her tirade on PM Modi for demonetisation repeating her charge that it was enforced to inflict unwanted pain and misery on poor, downtrodden and backward sections of society.”It was an ill prepared and immature step,” she stated.

She made a fervent appeal to her party cadre to onserve her birthday as 'Jan Kalyankari Diwas' (people's welfare day) in all the poll bound states. She exhorted them to extend monetary help to people suffering under note ban.

The BSP chief also asked her party men to work with full dedication and honesty to ensure party’s victory in UP, Punjab and Uttarakhand and that would be the greatest birthday gift for her. She added that on coming to power, her government would no longer construct museums and memorials and concentrate on development but would also order probe into the works and recruitments done by the SP government.
