CHANDIGARH: Home secretaries and director generals of police (DGP) of Punjab and Haryana held an emergency meeting on Friday to chalk out a strategy to deal with Indian National Lok Dal’s (INLD) blockade of Punjab government vehicles.
Protesting the Punjab government’s refusal to build a link canal connecting Sutlej and Yamuna, the INLD workers will block Punjab government-owned vehicles from entering Haryana on July 10. Haryana DGP BS Sandhu said there was a possibility that INLD workers might block the National Highway 1 linking Attari in Punjab to New Delhi, at five or six places.
However, he affirmed that the police have made adequate arrangements to ensure smooth flow of traffic.
