CHANDIGARH: In a step that could invite controversy, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) (Mini Parliament of Sikhs) has decided to set up picture gallery dedicated to the martyrs of Operation Blue Star.
The decision to this effect was taken at a meeting of the executive committee of the SGPC here on Thursday. SGPC President Prof Kirpal Singh Badungar said the gallery would be set up in the basement of Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale Memorial near Akal Takht (highest temporal seat of the Sikhs) in Golden Temple Complex in Amritsar. The SGPC announced financial aid of Rs 1 lakh each to kin of those who were killed when the roof of a gurdwara collapsed in Panipat.
