India and Belgium are expected to sign an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters as both countries held discussions on it today.

NEW DELHI: India and Belgium are expected to sign an agreement on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters as both countries held discussions on it today.

The negotiations on the proposed Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) in criminal matters between India and Belgium were held here, an official statement said.

The Belgian delegation was led by Steven Limbourg, general counsellor and head of the directorate-III criminal law of the directorate general legislation, fundamental rights and freedoms, while the Indian delegation was led by Bipin Mallick, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs.

The meeting was held in a friendly and cordial atmosphere, the statement said.
