Theft at veteran footballer Surajit Sengupta's ancestral home

CHINSURA:  Burglars took away valuables and some medals from the ancestral house of veteran footballer Surajit Sengupta at Chinsurah in Hooghly district today, police said.

Unidentified men cut the grill of the empty house, broke open the almirah locker and took away some of the medals and jewelleries kept inside in the afternoon.

The theft was discovered by Sengupta's elder brother and sister-in-law when they returned home in the evening, the police said.

The family members said Sengupta, who lives in Kolkata, has been informed about the incident.
