KOLKATA: As West Bengal chief minister and Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee was meeting BJP's bitter ally Shiv Sena's supremo Uddhav Thackeray and his son Aditya in Mumbai on Thursday, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya attacked the TMC supremo saying that she 'kicks every ladder after climbing it'.

Speaking at a public meeting in Canning in South 24 Parganas district of West Bengal on Thursday, the senior BJP leader responsible for affairs of West Bengal said that Mamata Banerjee couldn't have come to power without the support of BJP or expelled TMC leader Mukul Roy.

Vijayvargiya said: "You (Mamata Banerjee) became the chief minister with the mass mobilisation capabilities of Mukul Roy and then kicked him out when you did not need him. Mamata Banerjee cuts off people when she is done with using them."

He also said that democracy has died in the state because of which BJP has registered a whopping 12 lakh membership in the state and warned Mamata Banerjee of a tough fight between BJP and TMC cadres. His statement holds significance in the run-up to the panchayat polls in the state next year, when BJP and TMC cadres are expected to be indulged in localised but bitter armed conflicts for 'area control'.

Responding to Vijayvargiya's allegations, education minister Partha Chatterjee said: "I doubt whether the BJP had 12 lakh or lesser than 12,000 members in West Bengal. He could speak so much standing in West Bengal just because democracy is alive in this state."
