Thirty-year-old Gowhar Ahmed Bhat was allegedly kidnapped by terrorists. His body was recovered from an orchard in the Kiloora area in south Kashmir's Shopian district on Thursday.

Bhat was associated with the BJP for the last two years and was the district president of the party's yuva morcha (youth wing).

Condemning the killing, Sharma said that the party has announced Rs 5 lakh relief to the family of the deceased.

"Although nothing can fill up his void, the BJP is committed to support his family as he laid his life for a great cause," he said.

The state BJP president congratulated party workers on the success of the first ever state working committee meeting in Kashmir last month.

"It is an important event. People of Kashmir have let down messengers of hatred, welcoming the BJP with open arms," he said.
