BELAGAVI: Energy Minister D K Shivakumar has refuted allegations made by the Chhattisgarh chief minister Raman Singh that the Karnataka government was cancelling its plan of setting up a power plant in Chhattisgarh.
During the question hour at the Legislative Council, when a Congress member raised the issue, Shivakumar said that the government had not dropped its plan of a power plant at Chhattisgarh. “It seems that Singh has been misinformed about the project,” he added. Singh has made the allegations while addressing the ‘Parivartana Rally’ here on Monday.
The minister further stated that implementation of the project has been delayed in the wake non-availability of coal blocks. As the central government is expected to allot the mines within few days, the state government would go ahead with its plan, he said.
Opposition leader Eshwarappa said that if the state was not getting the blocks, all party leaders should meet the concerned central minister and press for early allotment.
