Adampur coldest at 5 degree Celsius as winter cold grips Punjab, Haryana

CHANDIGARH: Adampur was the coldest place in Punjab today, recording a low of 5 degrees Celsius, as cold weather conditions prevailed in most parts of the state and neighbouring Haryana.

Union Territory Chandigarh, the joint capital of the states, recorded a minimum of 9 degrees Celsius while the temperature in Adampur was 5 degrees Celsius, a MeT official said here.

In Punjab, Amritsar recorded a minimum of 6.8 degrees Celsius while Patiala and Ludhiana recorded minimums of 9.2 degrees Celsius and 10.9 degrees Celsius respectively.

In Haryana, Ambala recorded a minimum of 10.4 degrees Celsius while Hisar's low was 6.8 degrees Celsius, four degrees below the normal, the official said.

Karnal, Rohtak and Narnaul recorded minimums of 7 degrees Celsius, 6.5 degrees Celsius and 7.4 degree Celsius, respectively, up to three degrees below the normal.
