NEW DELHI: Three senior lawyers will represent Delhi government in Supreme court in the case of power tussle between the Centre and Delhi government over administrative jurisdiction. According to the Delhi government sources, senior lawyer Gopal Subramanium, Indira Jaising and Rajeev Dhavan will represent the Delhi government.

Sources claimed that Aam Aadmi Party led Delhi government in his defense will submit that Lt Governor is bound to work on the advice of the government and its minister. The government will submit that LG is only a ‘figurative’ head of Delhi and Chief Minister and other ministers are responsible for administrative decisions, a senior Delhi government official said. This is not the first time when these three eminent lawyers are representing Delhi government. Gopal Subramanium, Indira Jaising and Rajeev Dhavan had represented Delhi government in various different cases in the High court and the Supreme court including water dispute between Haryana and Delhi.

The Delhi High Court had last year declared the Lieutenant Governor as the administrative head of the national capital against which the city government has moved the apex court. The date of first hearing is yet to be finalized but the Delhi government is expected that case hearing will start by this year only.
