LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) Thursday rounded up three Bangladeshi youths, allegedly brothers, and unearthed a fake Aadhaar card racket here. The trio, identified as Mohammad Imran, Razidudeen and Mohammad Firdaus, were living on illegal documents in India.
The three were about to board the Howrah-Amritsar Express at Lucknow Railway Station in a bid to flee UP when they were picked up by the ATS sleuths, according to UP ATS sources. UP ATS IG, Aseem Arun said the three hailed from Jessore district of Bangladesh. Suspected to have links with the Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT), a banned terror outfit of Bangladesh, they were in possession of fake Aadhaar cards and other documents.
“They have admitted that they have been living in India illegally and possess fake Aadhaar cards with bogus names and non-existent addresses on them,” said Arun.
The ATS launched a hunt to trace them after an Intelligence Bureau tip-off that three youth had fled a madrasa in Deoband, Saharanpur, in the western part of the state in a suspicious manner. The sleuths said the trio would be interrogated to ascertain the reason for fleeing Deoband, a world-famous Islamic seminary, suddenly. The police said one among the three was teaching in the seminary while the other two were students.
The ATS is investigating if the trio has any link with the Bangladeshi youth nabbed from Muzaffarnagar in August on suspicion of being a member of the ABT.
The UP ATS, along with a team of commandos, had arrested Bangladeshi terror suspect Abdullah-Al-Mamon from Kutesara village in Muzaffarnagar district on August 6. Abdullah, son of Raheesuddin Ahmad, was nabbed from a local mosque where he was believed to be working as a Maulvi. His main task was to provide fake Aadhaar cards and other documents
to ABT sleeper cells and settle them in the western UP districts to carry out jihadi activities. During interrogation, Abdullah had revealed the names of some of his associates, the ATS said. Following this, a hunt was launched and the ATS arrested the trio at Charbagh Railway Station.
