Threat to scribe over criticism of 'sexist' song

Digital news platform The Quint registered a complaint with the Noida police over alleged threats received by its woman reporter.

NEW DELHI: Digital news platform The Quint has registered a complaint with the Noida police over alleged threats received by its woman reporter for her criticism of a song.

It said its reporter Deeksha Sharma had brought out a video that criticised Omprakash Mishra's viral song ‘Bol na Aunty aau kya’ whose lyrics were "sexist and misogynistic".

This prompted a flurry of abusive comments and hate messages targeted at The Quint's staff, particularly Sharma, the organisation said in a press release.

The release said Sharma was also threatened with rape.

Attempts were allegedly made to hack into The Quint's servers and Content Management System (CMS) software.

It said police have been requested to provide security to Sharma who lives in New Delhi and works in Noida where the Quint's offices are located in the film city.
