PITHORAGARH: Two skeletons were today recovered from the Kali river at Jhoolaghat town here on Indo-Nepal border with the police suspecting them to be of those who went missing after cloudbursts hit Mangti and Malpa on August 14.

"Recovery of the skeletons has given rise to suspicion that they could belong to those who went missing in the natural disaster that struck Mangti and Malpa areas last month.

"DNA samples of the skeletons have been taken and are being sent for testing to prescribed laboratories," Pithoragarh SP Ajay Joshi said.

Something definitive could be said only after the test reports arrive, he said.

Nine persons had been killed and 18 including five army personnel had gone missing after two separate cloubursts hit Mangti and Malpa areas on August 14 triggering landslides.
