NEW DELHI: The Opposition on Wednesday claimed the support of AIADMK and TDP as the parties blamed the government for the continuing deadlock in Parliament. Since the second half of the Budget Session started on March 5, both the opposition and the treasury benches have accused each other of disrupting Parliament even as no-confidence motions moved by several parties in the Lok Sabha could not be taken up in the din.

Given there was little hope of a breakthrough now, with the session ending on April 6, the Opposition said it would cooperate in passing important Bills if the session was extended.

He listed issues like the PNB fraud case, CBSE paper leak, weakening of SC/ST law, traders suffering due to the ongoing sealing drive in Delhi, distribution of Cauvery water in the south and special status for AP.

The Congress veteran said he was surprised that so far no senior minister had either contacted him or any of the opposition leaders to find ways to end the Parliament logjam.

“They are afraid that if the scams are debated they will be exposed. We are only raising issues affecting the people but we are aware of our duty as lawmakers also,” said Azad. He added the opposition parties have brought it to the notice of Speaker that the government should come forward. “We have the support of AIADMK and TDP also,” said Azad after leaders of Congress, TMC, NCP, DMK, CPI-M, CPI, SP, BSP, RJD, AAP, Muslim League, Kerala Congress and JMM met to discuss their strategy in Parliament.
