NEW YORK: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and president of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee Manjit Singh GK was allegedly attacked by a group of pro-Khalistanis outside the Yuba City Gurdwara in California. This is the second attack on him within a week.

SAD sources said Manjit escaped unhurt but the attackers managed to toss his turban in the air.

The incident happened when Manjit had gone to the gurdwara to pray.

A video of the incident that has gone viral shows the mob attacking Manjit and kicking him after he fell to the ground.

Manjit was saved by his supporters and Gurdwara Management Committee members. Police have rounded up three persons in this regard.

On Tuesday he was attacked by pro-Khalistan supporters outside a TV studio in New York and on August 20, members of Sikh Coordination Committee East Coast, USA, protested against him for the Bargari shootout.

SAD president Sukhbir Badal condemned the attack and blamed Pakistan's spy agency Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

“He was attacked on behest of ISI as the agency is against stability in Punjab and wants to create a wedge between Sikhs. I have requested external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj to take up the matter with her American counterpart."

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee president GS Longowal said, “It is very unfortunate that Sikhs are being repeatedly targeted in USA. It is the responsibility of the US authorities to take strict actions against people behind the attack.”
