Ahead of polls, PM Modi announces projects to lure Arunachal Pradesh voters

ITANAGAR: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent visit to Arunachal Pradesh and Tripura saw him announcing several-development related sops in a bid to woo the electorate ahead of polls. 

The Prime Minister addressed a rally in Itanagar, where he lauded Chief Minister Pema Khandu for making a blue print for a developed Arunachal Pradesh by 2027. 

There was a ray of hope and optimism among the people as the Prime Minister announced several sops. The BJP is leaving no stone unturned to unseat the Left Government. 

During his speech, Modi reiterated that development of the North-East State is a top priority.  He laid foundation stones for several projects and inaugurated the Dorjee Khandu State Convention Centre in Itanagar. 

He said, the convention centre will not only serve as a location for conferences, meetings, cultural activities, but also as a centre that would emerge as a significant landmark of Itanagar.

The Prime Minister also launched a new 24×7 satellite television channel of Doordarshan DD Aruna Prabha for the northeastern region. He laid special emphasis on the improving connectivity across the state and informed that the Naharlagun-New Delhi Express will run twice a week and will be called the Arunachal Express.

Residents expressed happiness over the initiatives One resident said,"We are very happy to have PM Modi here and we wish that the state of Arunachal will grow in every sector and become the fastest growing state in terms of development be it in infrastructure, connectivity etc. We have no airports but in railway connectivity, we can see development, and we are very happy with the announcement of the Naharlagun-New Delhi running twice a week now."

Other areas that were in focus included improvement of the health sector by having one hospital and a medical college in at least every two to three constituencies to ensure qualitative medical treatment and care. 

He said, the importance of having a wellness centre for farmers and the downtrodden people was also a good step.

Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh and Arunachal Pradesh Governor, B.D Mishra were present during the Prime Minister’s visit last week.
