KOLKATA: A 19-year-old Jharkhand resident attempted suicide by consuming concrete after his father scolded him for lack of attention to idol making, their traditional occupation. However, the victim's life was saved and he is recovering after a team of 10 doctors removed 2 kg of concrete from his stomach in a successful surgery in West Bengal's Burdwan on Thursday.

Bimal Pal, a resident of Babudaha in Pakur district of Jharkhand, was scolded by his father Dhiren Pal on June 23 for not assisting him in idol making and whiling away his time.
