CHANDIGARH: In a shocking incident a 22-year-old married woman was allegedly gang-raped by around forty men for three consecutive days at a farmhouse in the Morni Hills near Panchkula. As Haryana Police refused to register a case, then Chandigarh Police registered a case and have now transferred the case to Haryana Police.

Police sources said that the alleged incident took place at a farm house-cum-lodge in Kaimbwala village in Morni Hills as the woman belonged to Chandigarh. The caretaker of the farm taker of the farmhouse Sunil Kumar alias Sunny who is one of the main accused knew the victim's husband who was a tailor through a common friend.

She along with her husband had gone to meet Sunny on Sunday afternoon on a two-wheeler near a bridge in Ramgarh as he had promised to find a job for her. He then took her to the farmhouse in a white Alto car on the pretext of finding her a job and there Sunny along with other men allegedly raped her for three days by taking turns. She tried to call her husband from her mobile phone but it was allegedly taken by Sunny.

It is learnt that for next three days, she was allegedly hidden in the farmhouse and gang-raped by these 40 men. Then she managed to escape from there and immediately called her husband and narrated her ordeal. Then she along with her husband went to woman police station in Panchkula to get a case registered but they were told to leave as their complaint was not heard.

As the Haryana Police did not register the case after that she approached the Chandigarh Police with her complaint so a case has been registered by the Chandigarh Police in Mani Majra Police Station. Her statement under section 164 of CrPC has been recorded before the magistrate on Thursday and two of the main accused including Sunny have been arrested by the Chandigarh Police after it raided the farmhouse in Haryana.

The medical examination of the victim has been done which have confirmed the gang-rape. Deputy Superintendent of Police (East), Chandigarh, Satish Kumar said, "the woman approached us 18 evening and then we heard her complaint and registered the case as she had first approached the Panchkula Police which did not register the case, despite the fact that the crime took place in their jurisdiction. Then her medical was done which confirm the gang rape, as she had been raped many times by multiple men in the span of four days. Her husband knew the main accused Sunny.''

"The two accused have been arrested by us as we raided the farmhouse near Panchkula and they have now been sent to judicial remand. We have transferred the case file to Panchkula Police for further investigations as the crime took place in their jurisdiction,'' he said.

In her complaint to the Chandigarh Police, the victim had stated that her husband who works as a tailor here knew the main accused Sunil Kumar as once he had met him through someone and to get her a job he had requested him. Sunil told her husband that he will give job to his wife at his farm house-cum-lodge for Rs 12,000 per month and she has to clean the whole place.

Thus her husband agreed to send her to this job. On Sunday afternoon he took her (wife) on a bike near a bridge in Ramgarh where Sunil was waiting in his car. He took her to the farmhouse and gave her something to drink which had sedatives and thus raped her along with others.

Taking action, Haryana Police has suspended Morni Police Post In-charge, a constable and a Woman ASI of Women Police Station, Panchkula in this case. Apart from this, a Special Investigation Team headed by Anshu Singla, has been constituted to investigate the case. SHO, Chandi Mandir and SHO Women Police Station are part of SIT.

DCP of Panchkula Police Rajender Kumar Meena said that the entire matter would be investigated and CCTV footage would also be checked. So far three accused have been arrested and guilty would not be spared. It would also be checked as to why case was not registered in this connection in Panchkula.
