KOLKATA: Ola, India's leading and one of the world's largest ridesharing companies, on Tuesday announced the return of #FarakPadtaHai (#FPH), a national movement against traffic, carbon footprint, and resulting pollution through the adoption of shared mobility.

For the second year in a row, through this initiative, Ola calls its customers and communities at large to switch to shared mobility solutions, an Ola spokesperson said.

As part of this campaign, Ola is launching a week-long offer, starting June 5 where commuters can book free rides from mass transit locations such as metro stations, railway stations, and bus stops across top 7 cities such as Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata.

Ola Share clocked 2x growth in the past one year with Bengaluru and Kolkata emerging as the top two cities in terms of adoption.

Chennai and Mumbai were not far behind and took up the third and the fourth spot respectively, as many more commuters realised the benefits of opting for shared rides.

Improved awareness and customer experience have increased the office-going commuter base by over 60 per cent in the past one year.

Pallav Singh, Senior Vice President at Ola said,"At Ola, we believe ridesharing has the power to change the social fabric of our country with #FarakPadtaHai acting as a catalyst. It is a key rallying point in Ola's commitment to environmental sustainability and stewardship. Seeing the entire nation unite for a shared purpose and opt for shared mobility in large numbers is what has helped #FPH and Ola Share achieve such encouraging growth."

"In the past one year, last mile commute emerged as the newest use case for Ola Share. To encourage this spirit of commuters, we're delighted to offer 1 lakh free Ola Share rides from mass transit locations." he said.

"We encourage Ola customers and the community at large to integrate shared mobility into their daily lives and make it a ubiquitous form of commute," Singh added.

The uptake for Ola Share has gone up to as much as 70 per cent from mass transit hubs in top 7 cities with Bengaluru, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune registering the maximum adoption, followed by Hyderabad and Delhi.

#FarakPadtaHai has driven massive uptake in smaller cities too; Guwahati, Jaipur, Chandigarh, and Ahmedabad are clocking in 60 per cent more Ola Share rides as compared to last year, and tier 3 cities like Raipur, Ranchi, Kanpur, and Dehradun have also joined the movement with more and more commuters opting for shared rides.
