Father held for raping daughter for four years in Kolkata

The victim had apprised her mother of the repeated rapes but she kept mum because of public humiliation.

KOLKATA: A 39-year-old jute mill worker was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping his 15-year-old daughter for more than four years. Preliminary investigation has found that accused Nakul Das had raped his daughter, a Class IX student, for more than four years at their residence at Shibpur Road at Mogra in Hooghly district of West Bengal.

The victim had apprised her mother of the repeated rapes but she kept mum because of public humiliation. However, the accused again attempted to rape his daughter recently while she was sleeping beside her mother at their residence.

The victim's mother contacted her brother and contacted Child Line and lodged a complaint at the local police station. Based on her complaint, the accused was arrested and produced to court on Saturday which sent the accused to police custody.
