BARASAT: A woman and her male friend have been allegedly harassed over seat adjustment by some passengers at the general compartment of a Krishnagar-bound local train, a GRP official said.

The couple, both working in an IT company in Kolkata, boarded the train from Sealdah station at about 9 pm on Saturday.

As the woman asked an old man to allow them to sit side by side, he refused and an altercation broke out.

Some passengers made derogatory comments on her dress, the official said.

The woman later lodged a complaint with the GRP at Dumdum railway station.

The police said that they were probing the incident.
