Addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Monday, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan accused the Prime Minister of making false poll promises.

"If people listen to Narendra Modi's speeches from five years back to his speeches now, Congress won't need to run a campaign to return to power-" - thundered Ashok Gehlot, in a fresh salvo on BJP's central and state units.

Addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Monday, the former Chief Minister of Rajasthan accused the Prime Minister of making false poll promises: -"Modi ji made tall promises which are unfulfilled. He used to say so much before the last elections but why is he not able to say anything now when questioned about their performance? I can say with certainty that if you listen to his speeches from five years back to his speeches right now, Congress will not need to run an election campaign. We will win easily.-"

With the war of words intensifying in Rajasthan before the elections, Gehlot added: -"Even after a clear majority in 2014 , although they had got only 31% votes and 69% people went against them, they were not able to fulfill any promises made. They have been completely silent on Rafale deal , inflation, on the rising prices of petrol and diesel even when international prices have gone down . They are fleecing the common man by constantly increasing the excise duty. The difference between the dollar and rupee is constantly growing, why is that", he asked.

Besides attacking Narendra Modi directly, Gehlot also sarcastically commented on Amit Shah's remark about Congress not having a CM face yet. -

"Earlier they were talking about fighting elections in the state under Vasundhara Raje. But now Raje's face has disappeared from BJP posters and in place Lotus has appeared. Why has that changed, can Amit Shah tell us-", Gehlot questioned. Talking about state government's mishandling of various issues Gehlot said that the law and order situation in the state is in shambles. -"Crime rate has gone up - women are not safe anymore, little girls are raped, kidnapped and even the police inspector along with his constable were killed in Sikar.

I have heard that they have now suspended 21 police officials for taking bribes for black marketing of bajri, the banned sand in the state. The money is reaching the top brass in such a way. I want to ask you why didn't you take all the steps one year ago because if you had we would have had no such instances in the first place.

When we come to power ,we will present all the facts of their misdeeds in front of the public-", he said.Gehlot even targeted the election commission saying that the Code of Conduct is not being followed properly. -"Even after the election code of conduct is on, the Bhama Shah card and ration card along with various other programs have the BJP party's lotus symbol attached with them. Election Commission should take steps to stop all of this-", he added.A few days ago, Gehlot was asked about who will be the CM in case Congress comes to power in Rajasthan and he had cited the example of the popular game show, Kaun Banega Crorepati, saying that no one knows who will be on the hot seat before the game begins. When asked on Monday who will sit on the hot seat he replied , -"the game is yet to begin. When the game starts we will tell you about it.-"
