Madhya Pradesh youth kills self, fearing action under SC/ST Act

VIDISHA: Apprehensive of being falsely implicated in the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, a youth has committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Madhya Pradesh's Vidisha District, police said.

Rajendra Singh Rajput's son Ravi alleged that his father had an altercation with Sunderlal Ahirwar on the night of October 19.

Sunderlal threatened Rajendra to lodge a complaint against him under the Act.

Later, he took his own life on the same day.

Police have registered a case in the matter.

Meanwhile, Sapaks (Samanya Pichhda Alpasankhyak Kalyan Samaj) members visited Rajput's family yesterday.

The Sapaks demanded an ex-gratia of Rs 1 crore to the next of kin and a case against Sunderlal.
