NEW DELHI:  Amid the BJP’s silence on the Supreme Court on Monday adjourning the hearing of the Ram Janmabhoomi land title appeal, the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) said that the solution to the issue could not wait for eternity, while calling on the Centre to take recourse to legislative options.

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) reiterated that the Ram temple should be built immediately.

“The Supreme Court has once again adjourned the hearing of Ram Janmabhoomi appeals. The adjournment has fortified our stand that the solution to the issue is not eternally waiting for the hearing of the appeals pending now for several years,” said Alok Kumar, VHP working president.

The VHP had last month stated that it would chart a course on the basis of directions given by “Dharm Sansad” on December 31. Kumar reiterated that the Centre should enact a law to clear the way for building the temple at Ayodhya.

“This (legislation) may be done in the coming Winter Session of Parliament,” he added.

Meanwhile, RSS communication department head Arun Kumar argued for immediately commencing construction of the Ram temple, stating that it would lead to an atmosphere of goodwill and harmony across the country.

“With the High Court decision it has already been established beyond doubt that the land is Ram janamsthan and a temple existed at the site before the disputed structure.Hence, the issue is limited only to the decision on land for temple construction. We are of the opinion that the Supreme Court should immediately decide the case and if there are some problems, the government should bring legislation to remove the obstacles and hand over the land to Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas,” said Kumar, adding that the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh had supported all the decisions of “Dharam Sansad”regarding the movement to build the temple and will do so in future.
