KOHIMA: Former president of BJP Nagaland state unit Visasolie Lhoungu has responded to the charges against him in the recent press statement concerning the revocation of expulsion order of two party members for their anti-party activities.

In a press release, former BJP president said the content of the press release undermined the decision and recommendation of the Party Disciplinary Action Committee and directly questioned the disciplinary action taken as "own interest" and "self styled".

According to Lhoungu, the state unit party president Temjen Imna Along had sent an apology letter on October 24, claiming that he was unaware of the write up and called it "totally unjustified" and "unsubstantiated".

Mr Lhoungu said Imna Along also described allegation against him as "defamatory," "unwarranted" and "untrue," adding that the apology letter nullified all the allegations against him.

However, Lhoungu said the issuing press release without proper consultation in the party "shows that this is a direct affront to the principles and working system of the Party by some unscrupulous persons bent on creating discord within the party rank and file".

He said those persons appeared to have overacted in order to tarnish his image and records with serious and false allegations.

"Such act is highly intolerable and amounts to defamation which is a serious offence against which legal actions can be initiated," former BJP president said.

Further, he said that issuing the press release shows that "some unprincipled persons" were trying to create a rift within the party and to create disunity and mistrust.

In this regard, former party president has appealed that "such persons misguiding the party leaders with vested interest" be rooted out from the party after thorough investigation so the unity and sanctity of the party was maintained.
